Hi all,

Still working with GPSExample 1.7

I've always had GPS connection issues with GPSExample 1.7 when sitting at my desk.
GPS Status won't connect.
Plus a few othe 'Map' apps won't connect.

But when I run Google Maps the GPS connection is almost immediate.
And one other 'Map' app is almost immediate as well.

Does anyone have any insight into why?
And any suggestions how we can enhance b4a GPS connection in the same manner?

Perhaps its with Google permission with a specific/special access code or procedure of some sort?

I found in ICS that there is a new field called "Google Location Services" I suspect its using the cell phone towers to triangulate the GPS data like Iphone do. I think Google maps might be picking up data from there. I was wondering if we could access it as well.

cool.
I'm running DorimanX on HD2.

Use wireless networks
Location determined by Wi-Fi and/or mobile networks

pretty sure thats the same.

So it's already there and available.

We just need to be able to take advantage of it in b4a.

When you use ABWifi library any location that is stored in the cache will be used. This is almost instantly available even if GPS is turned off. There is some smart logic behind the cache that seems to be driven by Google maps.
