I just read this article about two websites distributing pirated apps.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-24/four-men-charged-in-mobile-app-piracy-case-u-s-says.html

Right now I only publish on Google Play but I have found many of my apps on other sites.
All of my apps are free so I never really gave it much thought.
I don't really consider myself loosing any money but I am curious.
Suppose I do publish a paid app, how concerned I should be? Is there really anything that can be done?

Just curious how some of us other indie developers have been affected by this. Any thoughts?

Not really, The Android market its suposed to encript the APK in a way it will only work in the device where it was purchased.

But, hackers could unprotect, and also, delet ads of your app, and of cours, put their oun ads.

It seems that Google only encrypts your apk if your minimum SDK is set to 16. In other cases you have to use the license library to secure your app...
