Calculate how many "Pixel" the image have in total.
Check each pixel if it is a transparent one.
With a little bit algebra you should be able to calculate how many % is transparent.
But it will be very slow.
To optimize maybe check 1 out of 4 pixels or so. (As smudging would imply spatial correspondence)

I wanted to give an answer (not a solution) which should give an nearly correct value.

I dont know how much time it will take on an canvas-image. I do not work much with images. Especially on android.

To check just one out of four sounds like a reasonable value. It should be ok for such an "issue" here.
