A question about the SQL

I would like to create a economy family manage program...to save my data do I need necessarily a SQL?

It is the easiest option. SQL is quite powerful for the purpose of data storing. What's more, in such a system, you will have to get and order by criteria and there the SQL queries are at your disposal. It is not necessary but all other options(e.g storing in files) will make your job much harder.
