After Upgrading Device From OS 2.3 to 4.04 I Cannot Do USB Debugging

Motorola recently upgraded some devices from OS 2.3 to 4.04. Before the upgrade I was able to do USB and B4A Bridge Wi Fi debugging. After the upgrade, the SD card which has my database is not accessible in USB mode. The app cannot find the database. I have to unplug the cable to run the app. I prefer to use USB debugging to B4A bridge as there are fewer steps and I can also take continuous snapshots of the screen using MyPhoneExplorer which only takes snapshots of the phone screen when using a USB cable. Does anyone have any thoughts?

It is probably auto mounting the sdcard for PC use as mass storage.
You will have to fiddle with the settings to find how to prevent that.
In my CM9 its in Settings>Storage>(Menu)>USB PC Configuration but there is no mention of auto mounting.

I'm using ICS 4.0.4 and my phone does not auto mount for USB storage. This may be a Motorola option. Most phones with Ics that I've seen you have to pull down the drop down and tap on USB storage to enable it.

Thanks TDS and PFlores81: I looked at all the menu options in the settings and there is nothing allows me to change it. This is on the new Droid Razr. Actually, the device worked better with OS2.3. In fact, I lost all my emails after the upgrade to 4.0.4 and it quit receiving emails. I spent 2 hours with Motorola tech, and at the end they had me factory reset the device. It was not a pleasant experience. Maybe someone had a similar experience, and they can help.

Well some one with a Droid Razr might be able to help. It looks like their SW issue.

Kind of odd since Google now owns Motorola mobility. You'd think they'd have things straightened out over there. But as tds says, it sounds like a crappy Motorola option. I wish these manufacturers would stop trying to tailor the android experience according to how THEY want it. Leave it as a vanilla os

Have you tried to do a wipe reset of your smartphone after upgrate to ics?

Finally, I think I got the solution with Motorola tech support that should help everyone else agonizing with a similar issue like me:
1. When USB cable is connected to PC and phone, swipe down the notification bar.
2. Then touch Connected as mass storrage (touch for other USB options)
3. Uncheck 'Mass Storage and 'Media device. Then put a check mark in 'Camera (PTP) and exit. That should do it. Then, I can run my apps with the cable connected to PC.
This has all changed from the old OS2.3. between this and losing all my emails, and not receiving emails, etc. and resetting the phone, I lost a good bit of time. Nothing comes easy. This makes you appreciate B4A that much more.

All the trouble you are having is the reason I will NEVER use a stock phone. When you root and flash custom ROMs the community gives you so much help it's not even funny.

I'd guess the problem is more the Media Device option. I've used debug mode with USB and MTP(Like PTP but does more than pictures) and it communicates fine. Their Media Device option messes with all kinds of stuff. For one Motorola Device I even had to install drivers and add a vendor code to a file so it was seen.
