I have a need to enter < and > characters in EditText boxes but : and ; appear instead. I have tried all the virtual keyboards without success. This is not a problem when entering these characters in source code. Can someone help with this problem?

Thank you for attempting to replicate the problem.
It seems to be an emulator problem.
I find that it is not a problem with an actual device.
