This update is for developers using B4A v7.80.

It can be downloaded here: www.b4x.com/android/files/B4ASdkManager320.zip

Unzip it and copy the jar to the installation folder (under Program Files (x86)\Anywhere Software\Basic4android).

With this update it is possible to create (fast) AVDs based on Google API system images. The main benefit is that it allows creating AVDs running Android 8.

To create an AVD running Android 8.1 you need to install:
Google APIs intel x86 Atom System Image

The version should be Android 27.

Perfect, thank you Erel, and a special happy new year to you.

I'm more than sure that this new new year will bring benefits to B4X developers that we couldn't even dream of 12 to 18 months ago, 8.1 is excellent.

    Cheers

The emulator is mostly unusable without Intel HAXM acceleration, especially with the more recent versions of Android.

You can use a VM such as Genymotion.
