Before I forget it I'd like to add what I would want to see in B4J v10.

* A split view (optional) in the IDE

* Draggable, right-click editable shortcuts on top of the screen
(dunno the name of these)

* b4xlib wizard in the IDE Tools menu

* Option to have this pane fade out after x number of seconds

@Erel with so many important enhancements in a dot release, what else are you preparing for B4J 10.0 ???
In particular, thanks so much for the major jServer update, so long awaited...

I installed this latest version onto my laptop, which had 9.3 already installed. 9.30 has been working fine without any problems.
After the install, I launched B4J. It showed the splash screen but did not launch the IDE. I tried this a few times, same result.

What's going on, that the IDE will not appear?

Thanx in advance,
Mark Stuart

I don't know but are you aware that v9.80 is a 64bit version and will install in Program Files and not Program Files (x86) where v9.30 will be located? Perhaps it is something to do with that. You can uninstall v9.30 without affecting v9.80.

Just checked again that my laptop is a 64bit OS, and that is correct.
9.30 launches the IDE without a problem.

I navigated (with File Explorer) to the C:\Program Files\Anywhere Software\B4J and double-clicked the B4J.exe - same result, splash screen but no IDE.
I restarted the computer also.

Windows 11 Pro
Version 21H2
OS Build: 22000.739
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.739.0
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz

@Erel, will B4J run on an AMD processor?

Thanx,
Mark Stuart

Try to uninstall B4J. Make sure that all files under C:\Program Files\Anywhere Software\B4J are deleted and reinstall.
If it still fails then open Events Viewer and look for the crash message.

I installed B4J on 2 other 64bit computers and it's running with no issues.
I'll deal with the problem a little later.

Just tried the installation.
A few quirks:
- it didn't import existing B4J 9.30 settings (language, theme, paths)
- it wiped B4J 9.30 settings
- when configuring paths it resulted in the following error:
[IDE message - 8:57:36]
An error occurred.
Formato della stringa di input non corretto.

Strange mix between English (the language set by me) and Italian (does he know I am in Italy right now? hehe)

After a few restarts, paths config seems ok (above error not showing and settings retained after existing and restarting). Launching B4J 9.30 it shows B4J 9.80 settings
I understand that we should rely only on the latest version of B4x tools, but having previous working versions available ain't nad IMHO.

Ok, now let's start playing with the new features!

Hi @Erel ,
the settings were (and are) in the usual <username>/AppDtata/Roaming/AnywhereSoftware/B4J folder.
What came unexpected was the apparently fresh installation: no theme, wrong language, no paths
I say unexpectd because it always worked as you say, settings reatained and immediately applied.
I don't know what went wrong this time. It's not a problem since I know how to set up things the way I like, but anyway I found useful to post it here so yo're aware of it.

Maybe an indication could be given by that strange mix-languages error log. Maybe not, because I'm unsure whether I exited the tool after changing the language selection.. But, as said, there're new features to explore and play with, so let's consider my installation problem as an unexpected, isolated accident and forget about it.
