I'd like a library for this, at least a way to have them connect automatically via wifi/bluetooth just by being clicked together.

Can the nfc library be used to transmit data between devices? Or is it read-only?

The NFC library is a read-only library. There is an "extended library". It might also support writing. I'm not sure.
