Lots of things to consider here-

1. Does your device work in USB Host mode or is it only a client/device and can possibly charge over usb. If you can plug a keyboard, mouse, or USB Memory stick into the device and have them work then you can do Host mode.

2. Without Bluetooth it is possible that the Bluetooth Stack, drivers, and settings screens aren't there. Even if in Host mode and you plug it in you will need a way to get it to work.

Still like you said though it was cheap, so worth a try and at least it would work on your PC/Laptop.

Just to share my experience, I have a tablet with 2 USB ports, you can connect Mouse, Keyboard and add a USB thumb drive, however, adding a Bluetooth dongle doesn't work.

I don't know if that is possible.

Bluetooth Dongle Does Not Work

I just bought an IRULU 10.1, Android Tablet with 2 USB ports.
I can plug in a wirelss mouse dongle and it works just fine.
I can also plug in the keyboard that came with it (into a USB Port) and it works just fine. But, when I plug in a Bluetooth dongle into either USB port it DOES NOT work.
The {} Deveoper Options under Settings does not allow HOST mode for USB Debugging. It only offers "DEBUG Mode when USB is connected".
I would love to use some BT speakers with this but can't figure out how to make that work.
Does anyone know how?
Can you help me?

Thanks,
Roger

It depends on the manufacturer. I have an Onda vi40 that does not have built in bluetooth, but readily accepts the cheap $1.95 ebay bluetooth dongles. It has support built into the Settings app and has the kernel modules for bluetooth included as part of the Android build. Also in the specs, it specifically listed support for external bluetooth dongles.
