iOS Question communicate with external hardware?

I read some posts and replies, but I need a more clear advice..
Is it possible to communicate with external hardware without the Internet? In b4a we used BT.

The standard Bluetooth serial profile which is the one usually used is not supported by iOS.

BLE is supported and there are also other hardware accessories supported by iOS.
