iOS Question Connect to specific SSID

It seems Apple does not let apps connect to a specific SSID or for that matter any SSID. All that is handled out side the app.

To connect to a specific SSID the user must use the Apple Settings menu. Is that correct?

I don't think that it is possible to connect wifi programmatically.
