create a file with one app, read with another

I need to create a file with some data in it, then close the app and read the file contents with a different app. I can't find a folder in Android where I can create this file. Any help will be appreciated.

You could create a folder in DirRootExternal.

Isn't dirrootexternal the SD card ? My tablet does not have an SD card.
On a PC, I would use c:\foldername. What can I use on Android ?

There are 2 kinds of SD cards, Internal SD card and External SD card, DirRootExternal refers to the Internal SD card. Your tablet should have one.

you wouldn't, by chance, know how to universally access the external sdcard, would you? different manufacturers use different folder names...
