Not sure what this was originally, but I'm fine for talking and had no hard feelings or anything. I had just posted the reasonings why I thought Erel did what he did. Plus I was kind of in the middle of it and didn't want his feelings turned my way. Usually that is how it goes in a lot of forums is I give help to someone "the heat is on" so to speak and always come in at the wrong time and somehow end up in the middle. Sometimes one side or the other take what I say wrong and/or think I'm taking sides and it escalates.
Anyone over at the PowerBASIC forum can tell you that too. One week I actually ate lunch with Bob Zale (Developer and pretty much genius...although too proud of it at times) and there were even talks of working there or for them, then it was like a month later they came out with an upgrade that cost that should have been a free update and everyone had a fit about it. They were closing threads and deleting things and I made one comment and got lumped in and treated like the rest of them. Got me pretty ticked and some good heat going back and forth. Ended up getting banned with like 20+ other people. Had to even have a friend buy me PB Forms (GUI Designer) because Bob wouldn't sell to me. Got unbanned like a year later, but they still watch close and Bob has deleted a lot of my threads...especially ones with issues I reported in beta testing 5-10 years ago and not fixed that they acted like were new bugs so customers wouldn't get mad. I still post there, but not as often. I visit PlanetSquires more (IDE and GUI designer for PowerBASIC) and actually found B4A about a year ago with a bunch of other guys through the private forum there that Paul is kind enough to keep out of Bob's control. I only buy PB stuff during extreme sales now or have work buy what I need.
I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and tend to help even when others get/got mad...especially with knowledge from past experiences. Sometimes I'm even pretty direct and tend to rub people the wrong way too, but found as long as there wasn't foul language and too many negative things it went better.
Forums are a weird beast. I've even been to some where I was fine and most assumed I was from England with the Garstang name, then as soon as I put in my profile where I was from I got treated different (USA prejudiced ???) . As long as someone isn't too demanding or wants others to write code or search threads for them I'm fine. Contrary to your profile biography you are not hated by all, and as much as I hate the bouncing Yay too the new signature should help first impressions some may wrongly give in the future.
