Hello,
I have a couple apps that use Android Speech Recognition to convert speech to text.
They use my CRGoogleVR library, see:
https://www.b4x.com/android/forum/threads/crgoogvr-library-google-voice-recog-w-source.76583/
I have tested this for English, French, German, and Lithuanian for native and non-native speakers. Those languages work on the phones I have tested.
I have a few apps on Google Play, Deaf Pad, Xlate Pad, and others that make use of my CRGoogVR library.
I have received emails from users in northern Europe, Russia, and most recently India who say that the apps do not recognize their speech.
I am trying to determine why it is not working.
Can I ask others to test these apps briefly to see if they recognize speech in languages other than English?
Report whether it recognizes speech, the device model, and Android version? If it does not work, does built-in device speech recognition (like Google search) work?
Deaf Pad and the CRGoogVR test app are supposed to recognize the language using the locale of the device it is running on.
Xlate Pad allows one to select the "From" and translate "To" languages.
The two apps on Google Play are, unfortunately, paid apps. But, I believe you can download the app, try it quickly to see if it works, then request a refund.
Added later: I have created a $0 sale starting GMT 0:00 Jan 23 lasting for 2 days. You will be able to download and test Deaf Pad and Xlate Pad for free during that period. Thanks for your help.
My CRGoogVR library on this forum includes a link to download a zip file from dropbox that includes the source code and an apk for the example app. This would be completely free to try.
Thanks,
Barry.
