how do I access the mesgbox method from the core-library access? How do I write the import statement? Many thanks for the info in advance.

Add a reference to Core.jar.
Then you can access Common.Msgbox.
You will need to pass it a BA object. Just add a BA parameter to your method and the compiler will pass the object to your method.
Msgbox can only be called from an object declared as an ActivityObject.
