How to draw a line using a gradient instead of a solid color

I would like to be able to draw a line (preferably triangular, so that it tapers at an end) using a gradient (going from a solid color at the big end, to fading out at the smaller end) at an angle (not 0,90,180,270. As those angles I've handled already)

I'd prefer not to have to use paths to do it, but I can. I just hoped Android would have something built in
