If an app has to track the position, turning on the GPS involves a significant increase in battery consumption
Even a simple walk in the mountains, if you want to trace the path, is impossible if the duration goes beyond a few hours
Does it exist to create an app to track the position of the phone, even without turning on the gps device?

Check for FLP Library.... not using only GPS... but Data, Wifi too.. ofcourse with GPS the accuracy is better...

also you can setup a low power priority.... with many tests made with a new smartphone can work for two days with GPS... sending position every ~2-3 seconds...
