It all depends of what your app will be about!

I'm facing a similar problem, where I have a very clear idea of what I want, but not the graphic designing skills...
So I guess, you should first try to look a bit around the GplayStore and see what other apps that target the same or similar subjects as yours, look like...
Then start gathering your tools... there are plenty of web site resources for graphics and font, plenty are free.
