Is there a place we can see the market spend rather than market share?

I develop apps just for fun which is quite different from the ones who develop as a job. Hardest problem: You HAVE to support both, Android AND iOS when you want to make money.

My girlfriend's company (fashion) asked for a small app. Funny thing (as almost expected): They have sold 20 times more for iOS. Reason is that the people who work in fashion or designer companies have iPhones.

Don't forget the MARKET SHARE.
That's a huge slice of the cake @NJDude :D

@KMatle I totally agree. My only issue is paying Apple $99 per year just to install apps that I've developed on my own device(my apps can be installed if I jail brake the iPhone though), let alone anybody else's devices. I don't mind buying B4i and paying @Erel for the use of his on-line Mac solution(even though I would just go out an buy a mac mini). But paying Apple $99 a year is the actual deal breaker for me(it's not an option for me), especially as most of my apps are free. I don't mind Apple or Google taking 30% of my In-App purchasing fees. I can hack $25 or even $50, but not $99 a year :(

But its best to look at what developers are saying, if you follow developers. For e.g. ustwo recently announced that iOS makes 9 times more sales than Android for their game Monument Valley. Also I always read Android users whining about having to pay for things (ActionLauncher/MonumentValley and so on).

The difference is that Android users pay for what is worth to pay, unlike Apple users they just pay no matter what, in fact, if available, they will even pay for a HELLO WORLD app, just because Apple made it.

Really? Is that why they wont pay for ActionLauncher and MonumentValley? Or do I need to start hunting down lists of pirated apps?
Lets face it, somebody who spent $100 on a phone is not going to spend another $100 on apps, otherwise he would have got a $200 phone.
But somebody who has already reached the pinnacle of $600, and has money to spare will keep spending money.
You need to bring more facts to the table buddy, bring reports from developers who released the SAME app on both and which one made more money.

Exactly, why spend money if I can avoid it?, for example, when the HTC One came out, I got it, I only paid $79 (and 2 year contract), when Apple releases a re-heated, same-old-same-old iPhone the price is for hundreds of dollars and YOU DON'T HAVE CONTROL OVER IT (you can root your Droid right at the store if you want to :D), now, if I were a professional developer I would indeed target the iPhone market because the fanboys pay for ANYTHING, unlike droid users who are more money conscious.

If I could figure out a a way to get back $99 per year out of the App Store, I would gladly pay $99 per year fee. But I can't figure out a way, so I will not add to Apples $150 Billion cash in bank war chest.

Actually the only way I could have make money from the App Store was to convert my service app over using B4i and charge $1, but 2 developers have recently(last 6 weeks) done that app now for free :)

I'm the only person on the Play Store doing this particular app. My mistake was to allow users to access region settings for free and not as an In-App purchase of just $1. I really screwed that one up and I have a lot of users using it now :(

See, now you are veering off the direction we set off initially.
We are not discussing what a device can or cannot do. We are focusing on consumer behaviour not device behaviour.
Droid users are money conscious? Yes, they are (maybe a bit TOO conscious). But thats not the issue.
I am going to take MonumentValley's example since thats the closest thing in my mind:

See the vitriol spewed by android fanbois? Is that the feedback a developer wants to see on his hard work?
At the end of the day your denial will change nothing, Android users dont pay as much as iOS users, that is a FACT. Use it or twist it, your choice, but I am surprised that you would say this as a developer.
