If you have several variants in a layout in the Visual Designer, then I would like the dark grey background in the Abstract Designer to automatically match the variant you select in the Variants window. As it is, the position of the views change automatically but you have to select the right layout from the drop-down list box at the top of the Abstract Designer to see the actual size of the variant screen. And you might have created a variant whose size is not listed, in which case it is impossible to design the layout effectively.
