Using the GPIO ports of the RB with B4J is quite easy. Using wireless sensors (like reed switches to check windows, doors, etc.) is bit more complicated and not that cheap:
Wired:
A reed switch is about 3-5€. All you need is a (long) cable. Problematic if you did not plan the wiring before you moved in
Wireless:
No cables but you'll need wireless sensors (about 20-30€), a transceiver (up to 20€) and sw to manage it.
Using several Pi's:
A RB 3 (-> has Wifi/BT build in, so no further cost for a dongle) is about 45€ plus 5 for the power supply.
Anyone here who has some experiences (it's more about connectivity of the sensors)?
