Lock Tablet

I was wondering if there is a way to lock an android device, i want it to boot up and then open my app but not get into the other features of the tablet. The reason for this is the tablet is being supplied as part of a whole system and is just a graphical user interface to the system. The app will be loaded on but i dont want the users to be able to exit the app and start using the tablet as a tablet (unless they are an engineer).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
