Locking screen (not to flip when hardware keyboard is openend)

Hi

I have seen some applications that 'freeze' the screen on portrait mode (say 240wide by 320high). This does not change when the hardware keyboard is slid open (on for example the HTC TyTN or Imate KJA/Jasjar).

By default the screen slips over and becomes 320 wide by 240 high.

Is there a hardware setting that can be used to stop this default behaviour? Ive seen this in example the BackGammon game that comes with the JasJar - where the screen stays portrait regardless of whether the hardware screen is slid/flipped.

Thanks. Yeh. the problem with searching is finding the right keybwords. I used screen and locking and resolution, without any luck, and then posted my question. The moment I used ORIENTATION in the search it came up trumps (that was about 2 minutes after posting my question) Murphy's flaw, Im afraid.
