Android Question My phone will not show true heading or magnetic north

I have a Doogee X5 Android phone and I need to make an App the can find true north.

I found a compass App on the playstore but it will not give me anything.
It can find the geolocations and so can my App, but not true north(heading)

I need this for my App but cannot test it.

Does any one know how I can enable this on my phone?

Are you shure it has one? Load a hw-app from Google Play which shows the build in hw (sensors, compass, etc.)

No I'm not sure it has. It was a cheap phone.

It looks like it may have a compass.

Under hardware is says:
android.hardware.sensor.compass so I guess it have.

Go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.cvpcs.android.sensordump and install it. It will give you info on all of the sensors on the phone. You can also search for "compass" and download a free "compass" app to see if your phone can use an app like that.
