Not getting contact phone number

I have issue that is going on for long time
my app reads names and dial then (via voice recognisem)

some of my users saying that while using my app some of their contact has no phone number (meaning i cannot read the phone number)
in the begining I thought this is coporate server issue
but yesterday I saw sony device that had my app, and my app was unable to get the contact phone number - I was unable to plug my laptop for debug (since it was not with me) and I saw that the name was located on the phone, while name on server, the app was able to get the phone number

also my app has 2 modules, one uses the contacts2 and the other uses the callItem
so the app was unable to get the contact number using contact2 BUT was able to get it using callItem

I never was able to replicate the above using galaxy 1/2

any idea why it happens and how to overcome this - it driving me crazy....(since now and then someone complains about it, and I cannot replicate)

Contacts2 uses the standard API to retrieve contacts. It seems like this device doesn't implement the API correctly. CallItem is based on the call logs and not the contacts database.

can it be that contact2 code has issue?
(since AFAIK it is happend to few users, I don't know exactly which phones they have - I can check next time someone will complain about it)

is there a way to overcome this?

It is hard to tell. Contacts2 is based on the standard APIs and works on almost all phones.
