Hi,

I found a cheap used RS232 Compact Flash Serial Port adapter cable on E-Bay
for about $40.00 dollars. New adapter cables of this type are selling for up to
$130.00 dollars.

The used adapters I found on E-Bay have ruggedized cables. I have
used this adapter in an HP IPAQ 2210 PDA and the HP IPAQ 210 VGA PDA.

The RS232 Adapter shows up on COM 1 on each of the PDA devices.

I can use Basic4PPC to send ASCII characters across an RS232 link using
this Compact Flash Serial Port Adapter Cable.

A picture of the RS232 Compact Flash Serial Port Adapter Cable can be
found below.

After plugging the cable into the Compact Flash connector on the PDA,
I push the Reset Button on the PDA and when the PDA reboots with the
Compact Flash Serial Port adapter plugged in I can talk across the RS232
link using Basic4PPC.

Has anyone found an RS232 Compact Flash Serial Port Adapter Cable
anywhere cheaper than $40.00 dollars ?

Has anyone found information on how to program the I/O pins on the
Compact Flash port using Basic4PPC ?

Some companys sell a Compact Flash adapter card that extends the
signal pins outside of the PDA where you can get to them. I am looking
for some way to control the I/O pins using Basic4PPC. Does anyone
have an idea on how to do this?
