Android Question [Solved] Upload Android app to Google Play

I believe my first Android app is ready to upload to Google Play. I'm looking for a tutorial to guide me through the process.

I found this post on the forum but it was posted in 2010. Is it appropriate still?

I found this more recent post on the forum but at the top Erel recommends against enrolling in Google's app signing service, which these instructions are for.

I found this tutorial for signing with a non-B4A keystore. I have done everything in B4a so far, so this may not be the route for me to take.

Which is best to follow? Is there a better tutorial that I'm missing? Should I be looking on the Google Playstore for instructions, instead of in B4a?

Side question - how do you publish those nice links to other posts within the forum with part of the content quoted?

Hi Lori - I did a quick search on the forum & also couldn't find a tutorial (surprising - perhaps I should write one). Releasing an app on Play Store for the first time is a reasonably laborious task because you need to complete all the categores (Store Listing, Content Rating, Pricing & Distribution, etc...), however for subsequent updates it's pretty easy because all you have to do is upload the apk, put some "what's new" info in & update the description if necessary.

Here's a link to a tutorial on raywenderlich.com that should get you started. It's a couple of years old & the Console UI has changed a little since then, but the steps are still the same. If you've already signed the apk, you should skip down to the "The Google Play Developer Console" section. I'd recommend you give it a try & if you get stuck just post a question on the forum.

- Colin.

Colin,
I don't see a link in your message. I browsed the raywenderlich.com website a bit, but the tutorial for submitting to Google Play Store didn't pop out at me. I found a 2-part tutorial for submitting to Apple App Store. Is that what you're thinking of? I will need that as well so it is helpful.
