Test for received notification

Hello All,

I've just bought a nice new phone but it doesn't have a front LED used for notification of a received email, SMS, Google Chat Message, Facebook Message etc etc.

All I want to do is write a simple service to periodically beep in the event of receiving one of the above so as to alert me to it.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction as to which library to use? I can't seem to find it.

You can intercept SMS with an intent filter: Intent Filters - Intercepting SMS messages in the background

The other mentioned features are handled by the client apps so there is no way to intercept these events.
