It is very similar to what they recently set up in Italy about the newly elected President of the Republic, Mr. Mattarella.
A lot of press attention on his "be a common person" who uses public transport and living low-profile...
In the meanwhile Prime Minister Matteo Renzi went to ski aboard of a military flight used to collect even his family. Oh, he said it was due to "security reasons" mandated by some law (that evidently doesn't count for the PdR, who btw is commander in chief of the military chain!).
Nothing new. It's the old story of being versus standing out.
If you are, you don't need to stand out. If you are not, then you need to stand out somewhat.
Sadly, our leaders are not leaders at all; they simply play a role and do what others command them in exchange of a luxury life they couldn't have reached by themselves.
A real leader doesn't need to show himself as a leader; he is simply recognized as such by the people.
