Android Question Want to take pictures in a service but cannot access Panel

Hi there,
is it possible to take pictures in a service?
I want to realize a time lapse camera but allow the mobile to sleep.
I can't see a chance to call the camera without a panel...

The camera must have a panel, but you can have it in an activity module that starts by a command from a service, and close after taking the picture. The service will wake up at the required time, launch the activity, take picture and close until the next time.

... but with intervalltimes from 5 or 15s?

ok - i think i will take the PhoneAwake feature and dim the screen to 0

If you don't want the panel to show (take the picture secretly...) it is sufficient for the camera to work to have only one pixel of the panel in the screen area.
