So,
I am using agraham's gif tool to display a small video at the start of my applications.
Now that I have a decent (for me) user base, and am getting feedback on performance, I am in a quandry.
Many of my users apparently have devices that I cannot replicate the errors that I see with my devices, but are consistent in memory issues with displaying images. (doesn't help that a lot of them are "other" )
I have even taken the (what I thought was already small) gif file and shrunk it down some more, so now it is a 102 kb large, with each frame 270 x 180.
But I'm still seeing memory issues (I'm getting 1-2 a day, with downloads of 500-600 per day, so figure there are many more just unreported).
My next step would be to eliminate the video completely from loading, and just show a single bmp frame for a few seconds, but this takes away from some "personality" that I like with the animation.
If you have some way of displaying an animated logo, that isn't causing any memory issues... can you share your technique!
Thanks,
Ross
