Dear all,
I've read somewhere here on the forum a small list of cheap server providers where to host a B4J Webapp, so tha it can be accessible from the internet.

I'm aware I could also use my pc to do this, using a service like duck dns as Erel posted somewhere.

However, I'm looking for cheap/affordable solutions where to host a B4J/ABMaterial webapp and let the customer view and test it.

So the questions: where do you host your B4J/ABMaterial webapps ? Do you have some stable and yet affordable solution ? Please share your experiences.

Best regards,
Sergio

I use HostWinds for 5 of my servers hosting B4J / ABM apps (linux).
https://www.hostwinds.com/index.php

Cheap and reliable - and up-gradable when you need more HP as demand grows.

Thank you for sharing your infos.
How to deploy a B4J/ABMaterial webapp on Linux ? Are the steps described in the tutorial about Amazon GCE similar ?

More. I've seen that Hostwinds has also windows vps with a visual remote desktop. Do you think it is worth the more expensive price ?

I have lately been using DigitalOcean which for USD 5,00 a month you can set up a good server(vps). I have used this one for audio and video streaming and it has worked flawlessly. Using Droplets is great and easy. You set up a basic server and then you add components/software according to your needs.

I was just chatting with Hostwinds about my latest bill (192 per year - which was 48 per year). They are going to TRY and adjust it downward - or I cancel them.
However, they will be offing Black Friday specials with huge savings this Wed - Thursday.

The other offerings posted sound very good indeed. So many to choose from to get a good VPS.

Thanks all for the precious infos. I find the 1&1 offer quite interesting. But I'm still evaluating the others too.

Some more questions though. Can I deploy and run more than one B4J/ABMaterial Webapp - each listening on a different port - on a single VPS ? Or should I better have a single VPS for each Webapp ? I guess it has to do with the available assigned VPS Ram.
Should the (mysql) database also reside on the VPS, or can a B4J webapp also connect to a remote one ? In this case I have only to deploy the webapp .jar on the VPS.

Best regards
Sergio

Yes, depends (multidomain?), you can have the MYSQL DB on the same VPS or on another computer that has TCP/IP visibility with your VPS, yes.

Maybe you've to read B4J posts about VPS and servers questions and draw a schematic about your desired solution to focus your doubts on your design.
