Anyone have any idea if this cheap tablet will work reasonably well with B4A or is the spec a little too low? Just want something I can take to work or on holiday to do a little coding on the go.

But should I tell the missus?
Hey that's upto you, I've got no advice about that. I have my own misses issues when it comes to tech. If I buy yet another tech item or I look at something new, she looks at me with those sexy eyes and says "do you really need that, or do you just want it", I hate it when she says that. I've not purchased a new phone in 18 months, but I will get a new Nexus nomatter what she says lol...

10" is too small to code on, I worked on a netbook with that kind of screen for a year and it was a pain.

Today a lot of programs have these side panels like B4A has logs/libs/etc on the side.
And on such small screens/resolution it eats away too much so you lose comfort because you either remove that panel, make it smaller or it makes the other part smaller.

I guess with £100 more you have a (better) laptop instead with 15" 1600xwhatever screen.

I still see tablets as something to check mails, surf the net or to play a game. Even RDP on a windows tablet is not what it should be which makes it hard to use business wise.

on the other hand if you plan to develop for windows mobile it's a good thing to test on I guess.

I'm using Dell Venue 8 Pro with 8" screen. When I need to type something, the virtual keyboard pop up and it hide about 1/2 screen. I never use it to code and I really don't want to do it. I guess 10" is not better for coding.

What I like about this particular tablet is the flexibiltiy to add a keyboard and so have a kind of small laptop. Going back to the days when web books were all the rage
PS I never actually owed a web book!!!

they are ideal if you want to visit a customer but for code or photoshop work I wouldn't recommend.

I must admit that these devices are quite fast but I don't want to peek and stare on such small screen again, my eyes are already bad enough :)

This is just a hobby for me and there are times like brew times at work or on holiday when I would like to be able to continue with some code I'm working on. I wouldn't dream of attempting anything serious on such a small device but just interested if it would power B4A well enough to be viable for tinkering. I've got the itch to make a new tech purchase but the missus will go mad if I spend too much :(

I don't know if they have a return policy where you could return the tablet for free if it doesn't suit you?

Then you can quickly install B4A on it and see how it behaves and how fast it compiles.

If it's too slow then you can remove B4A and send it back.

The 2gig of RAM is going to hurt you if you run an Android emulator.
It's not true if you use AMIDuos. My Windows tablet with 2GB RAM can run Android 4.4.4 (AMIDuos) smoothly as real Android tablet.

[Off topic, but not too much]

I hate typing on tablets (let alone on smartphones).

For this reason, I have completed a few minutes ago an app that receives voice commands (mobile device) and sends the texts to the editor of B4A (PC).

If anyone is interested, it is not free, it can cost between $ 49 and $ 449, depending on whether you are rich or not :D

[I know that Windows has the voice recognition system, but it does not work for all languages]

This is the link.
