Since Microsoft purchased Xamarin, the web has been buzzing about Visual Studio/Xamarin being "free". I've always been leary of any big corporation giving anything away. Usually, that is a way to hook users, then up-sell products or services after you have committed something more valuable than money ... time (to learn it).
