So I wanted to buy someone coffee.

I ended thinking if it was still worth it. Let me make the money $10 rather and see what the fees will be?

This is like a rip off.

I tested same amount with my PayPal account here in Australia, got this... but note they're making an extra 34 cents on the exchange rate, so the total PayPal cost is really AUD 1.96 to send AUD 6.87 = 29% cf your 100%

So I increased the amount

So it seems the fee if fixed..

Just wait, anyone whos sending someone $5 on paypal has to pay $4 also? Damn!! When did this happen? or perhaps I was ignorant.
Sidenote:

You are falling in one of the great pricing traps here, @Mashiane. $4,99 is NOT $4. If anything it's almost $5. Do not just mentally filter away the cents, they are almost 20% of their fee.

sometimes there are no fees at all.
Yes, it really depends from where to where you are sending. But almost $5 on a $5 payment seems outrageous! Most of the time, I as a receiver have to paya fee to receive it too (e.g. $1.43 on $20 receiving).

lol... I'd be interested in your thoughts on this sharemarket sale, then:

$5 cost on a 6 cent sale  and to add salt to the wound, they dudded me out of another 0.2 cents on the price also

edit: hey I just noticed it's timestamped 6:09pm ie well after sharemarket closes at 4pm... hmm... perhaps that's my get-out-of-sale-free card

I will try this next time:

I have been using (Transfer)Wise since at least 2018 and can confirm they live up to their marketing. ?

Exchange rate is always within a bee's dick of the Google mid-point rate, and over as often as under.

Better yet, they introduced a feature where you can have a bank account number in another country, that people in that country can use to do local bank transfers to you. Works a treat (at least, between Australia and EU).

Argh.... but "tax violation" sounds like a bureaucratic term for their perspective of argument about how an ambiguous tax rule should be interpreted. Or even that he didn't get his tax return in on time, or something stupid like that.

Seems Government and payment gateway have the common goal, to squeeze our money out until we d(r)ie(d).
