Since Rockstar has filed multiple suits against Google, Samsung, HTC, etc for patent violations, I think an all out war is inevitable now. This may or may not kill Android and indeed all smart devices. It could fracture Android into many closed source systems that will not be APP compatible. It could backfire and further hurt Apple and Microsoft since Google owns the Motorola patents.

In any case, it's not good for us or the Android concept. Here's a link to what's going on...

It is a shame that these big boys have to have these fights..... Why can't the y just get on and let the consumer choose

The problem is just one thing GREED, and I dare to say also ENVY, Microsoft and Apple don't have the footprint in the mobile market as Google, so, they will do whatever is in their power to disrupt that market, but in the end, like Barx said is really up to the consumer.

I don't think that Google is very different from Apple, Facebook or Microsoft. This company bought Motorola to get its hands on patents and will continue to buy as much patents as possible. If Google had succeeded in buying the patents currently owned by Rockstar (i.e. Microsoft, Apple...), do you believe that it would have buried them in the garden? These patents that have cost billions? And when Google analyzes my emails to know my centers of interest and to show me targeted ads, should I say "Thank you"? Nothing is really glorious or virtuous in the business world, and nothing lasts forever. Do you remember Palm? Kodak? Maybe in ten years my son will ask what was Google. And I won't cry. The true problem here is the patent trolling. I looked at some of the patents used to sue Google and they look like a joke: there's no technology, algorithm, code or anything solid behind the concept. It's just an idea. I have ideas every morning when I go to the toilets. Shame on me, I could have a patent on all of them! But AFAIK we cannot do that in Europe. Too bad.

Even worse, there is most of the time nothing innovative in these patents.

May I ask, I know that some parts of the forum are not accessible to those who have not bought B4a, but which parts?
The reason that I ask is that if we have a part of the forum where we can post with sure knowledge that outsiders can't see our posts, then we could discuss possibly patentable ideas related to B4a and our Android apps.

He implies that we may use that forum to discuss amongst ourselves, which is cool.
