No problem, EU GDPR gives citizens right to receive ALL info collected about them and even the right to obtain deletion of data.
So just let's write Google millions of privacy claims letters and they will think twice before activating a newer stealth service collecting our data.
Oh, law sets fines at 4% of revenues..
I didn't realize that. Similar laws are probably in effect in other countries too, and their citizens are likely unaware of their privacy rights. It is unlikely Google will pay anywhere near its 4% of revenues because like the banks, they are too big to jail. Nothing happened to Yahoo losing data for hundreds of millions of its users. Nothing has happened (yet) to Equifax for not reporting a data breach for 6 weeks while they used this time to sell their stocks before the SHTF.
CorbettReport came out today with a sobering view of how data can be accumulated and used to our detriment. It is unfortunate we programmers are the ones making the chains for our own enslavement. One way to combat this is to implement better encryption standards when writing applications and when accessing the web.
If you are at all interested in keeping your privacy private, watch this video so you can be aware of the problem so solutions can be found to combat it. The government and multinational corporations are certainly not going to be doing it
for us, because they will be the ones doing it
to us.
