Sorry for the excessive delay in my response,
You are correct, the designer script is the way to go; but when I am away from home, I remote into the computer that has all of my files and, more importantly, B4A. The laptop that I have through work changes and would not be practical to load B4A on every computer I touch. Because of this, often in the abstract designer the layouts on screen are much smaller than they actually are. Though it may seem not so helpful to you, I would find this helpful when I was travelling.
It isn't a huge deal, and I might be the only one who uses B4A like this.
