If you are running the standard Emulator from the Android SDK it may take more than 5 minutes before it displays the app screen. You can use this time for a coffee break, nap time, or time to walk the dog (I'm sure he'll appreciate it).

If you are running a modern computer (built with 3 years) that supports HAXM hardware acceleration, then you need to configure the Android Virtual Device Manager (AVD) for "Intel Atom (x86)". Search the B4A forums for "HAXM" for more info. On my computer when running this configuration, the emulator's app screen comes up in about 5 seconds and B4A apps will load in about 3 seconds so HAXM make a big speed difference for the emulator. The emulator is useless without it. There is also the Genymotion emulator but I've never had to use it because the SDK emulator is plenty fast with HAXM installed.

If you must use an Emulator .. I would suggest Genymotion over the default AVD.

I tried using Genymotion with win10 and it is a pain. Just a hint before you download it and install everything....

Yes, Genymotion installs VirtualBox and will create a VirtualBox Linux machine for each resolution you are emulating which in my case is around 30 machines. Even with GenyMotion installed, I still use the Android SDK emulator with HAXM which I find to be very fast.

I agree...I am quite pleased with the "new" and improved standard Android emulator, especially with hardware acceleration/images. Runs much faster compared to before. I don't use Genymotion any more.
