That's like when Apple launched the Iphone 5C! Nothing really changes, and there are already other boards, not adafruit, that use external antennas

Be careful that many cheap ESP32 boards that have both a PWB antenna and a U.fl connector typically come wired for the PWB antenna, and using the U.fl connector may involve moving an 0402 resistor, not something you want to do within 2 hours of having a cup of coffee...
That does not seem to be the case for this one but it pays to ask questions before buying.

I dropped it while moving one in an nRF52 module , luckily, the supplier sent the datasheet and I have stock!!
