The Sparkfun reader kit looks promising...thanks for the link.
I'll have to do more digging to see if I can control the frequency. In the U.S. Pet ID chips use one of three frequencies, depending on the manufacturer. In the interest of having a universally useful app, I'd like to be able to read all three frequencies and deturmine who made the chip. This will help immensely when trying to find a lost pet's owner.
For the Sparkfun kit, it looks pretty straight forward...and should be easy enough to build a rig that plugs into the USB port on a device...or to modify a cheap BT headset to wirelessly scan.
I'll report back with findings...and if there are any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.
