Android will stay around of course, but it would be nice to get away from dalvik and java. If chrome is accepted into the phone world, and if it is stable and feature packed, then it will make it. I have not messed with chrome OS so I have no idea if it is linux based or something else.

At one point, it was based on Arch, but I think now it's a heavily customized version of Gentoo.

Sounds like Basic4HTML5&JS could be the way to go:).

I've just spend half a day looking at HTML5, JavaScript and the Intel XDK and haven't written a line of code yet! I've been watching videos!. I was up to my elbows in code after half a day when I picked up B4A. And I didn't have a headache :BangHead:

Android has been under fire since a long time.. I am just wondering how a company scraps a hot and very successful product that became the de facto OS in more than 60% of mobile devices in the global market.. that would be crazy.
I think these reporters are paid by Orange!

These new smartphones and tablets would be called "Chromephones" and "Chromepads."

And the users would be called "ChromeDomes" :)

This means that Google would have to make a phone version of Chrome of course.

Is Chrome based on Linux as Android is?

Chrome OS is a layer on top of GNU/Linux. Chrome, of course, is "based" on C++, assembly, Python, and Javascript.
