I have been learning about ArcGIS for a while and with the help of a friend, managed to get a few things going. ArcGIS has a REST API that one can use to extract all sorts of data from a feature layer. This data you can manipulate in anyway you want to the parameters set. Here I have extract visual inspection data for roads, used degrees and extends to calculate some indices for each road. These then need to be written back to the layer so that you can see each road color coded for its condition.

Yes, this is work on the WMS map server. I work in ArcMap.
