Unfinished B4A project ?

Hello fellow B4X'ers
Yes I've been away for a while, well not exactly away, just reading but not posting on the forum.

I've been busy doing up the house and I built myself a 9ft 10" by 9ft 10" workshop/shed (I'll attach images) at the bottom of the garden for my electronics and small woodworking projects, the door is over 3ft 2" wide. I woke up one morning and I told my partner I wanted to built it (she just laughed), so I ordered all the timber, board sheets, cement, double glazed glass, felt, feather edge, lock and hinges, 2 x WiFi PIR sensors, WiFi door sensor, WiFi sensors are connected to my phones, 2 x 3ft LED batten tube lights, wiring, plugs, switches and other bits and pieces online. I'm already considering ripping off the side and extending it by another 6ft to 10ft, but Joanne said NO

Anyway in 2018 when things went a bit quiet for me, I spent less than 2 week working on this B4A invoice app project (see the video below) which I didn't quite finish, I want to write it again from the scratch but using B4XPages. If you want to know more about this app, please read the description on YouTube. I really enjoyed developing this invoice app as B4A made this app ridiculously fast for me to develop it in no time whatsoever. But then my partner Joanne booked us a holiday to the Balearic Islands for a couple of weeks, and when we got back I had to start working on new bespoke projects for clients, thus this Android invoice app project never got finished.

No, I'm not sharing the code for this app, so do not ask me for it. Everything you need to know about how to develop an app like this one can be found on this great forum. The search box at the top of every page still works flawlessly, well it did the last time I used it ;)

The Images from my autumn time project are attached to this post. Next summer I'm building a summer house and a bike shed.

Enjoy...

You should have just gone for the 19 foot version from the start - it's a lot easier to ask for forgiveness then for permission ;)

Dude, that is awesome. I mean that for both projects! ?

I have a lot of respect for people who can build things. You can do it IRL and on an Android!

In SA you would be a rich man with that quality of work in the housing industry. The size is about right too. Plenty potential here.

Geniet...

Oh no,
I've just realised that people were watching the videos without the video captions being on.

I've just changed the settings on the video to force the captions to be on, so now you can read what I was doing on the screen whilst watching the video. Sadly it appears that the first 27+ people watched the video without the captions being on thus missing the explanation.

Sorry about that.

Thank you @cklester, I do enjoy doing things in the house, and I mean doing them properly. I own too many power tools like nail gun, table saw + slider, a router + router table, sliding mitre saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, jigsaws, multiple drills, quality hand chisels, ISO calibrated DIN875/0 square and DIN875/2 angle for perfectly angled cuts and setting up power tools plus much much much more.

When doing woodwork in the house, if I don't have the correct tool to get the perfect cut and finish, I buy it and learn how to use it correctly on scraps of wood before putting what I've learnt into practice.

My next project is to build a built-in wardrobe in our bedroom with mirrored sliding doors, that's what Joanne wants. Sliding doors do not cost that much from B&Q or Wickes, so I just have to build the frame/caucus with soft close internal drawers at the bottom and hanging rails etc. I was just drawing the basic design by hand.

@JohnC you are 100% correct :)

@DonManfred you us. Once Joanne gets her summer house built, she will be more than happy for me to expand my little workshop ;)

It seems external views are not allowed too, you have to watch it in youtube.

Great job(s), and cute dog! I can see in the pics that see he/she was always around...perhaps thinking that you were preparing a new giant Dog's house? ;)

Eva, yes she is a great dog and way too intelligent for her own good. It's strange you should say about the dog house, as I've already made her one. I used the leftover felt from the workshop roof for the doghouse roof and spare pallet wood for the rest of it. She loves it ?

When lockdown has been lifted over here in the UK and Joanne can have her grandchildren over (my godchildren), we intend on making one or two of these feeders with the kids for the bird. We get a lot of birds in our garden, and Joanne loves all creatures great and small. Joanne's personal favourites are the wine bottle feeders ;)

You did a great job, you seem competent and capable even in manual work. I would not have even thought of making a solid base.

Especially the area where you live seems quiet and with a lot of green as I would like. I'm almost moving in with you.

Are there any job offers for street sweepers near you?

Our garden is a nice size, about 120ft in length by about 34ft wide at the top (about 32ft at the bottom), so that give us plenty of space to work with. Joanne says that this year is the year where we have to finish all the garden projects, nah that's not going to happen this year lol :D

Street sweepers jobs lol. Actually someone I know does that job, I was really surprised to learn how much money he gets paid working in Solihull, it's actually quite a lot and I was completely shocked ?

Charly would say "Meow, Lunchtime!!! :D"

Yes, that's about right for Charly, and the other too PMSL ???

I am a humble and modest person, I don't want a managerial job. The job of a street sweeper with an executive salary is enough for me

Nice job with that shed, Peter. I wished I had that craftmanship.
Would be nice to see how you furnished it inside once it was completed ?

He was accorded the possibility to build it and his power stopped there. When it comes to furniture you have to ask the chief :)

@Peter Simpson : mine it's just envy.. eheh

And to really do up the "medieval" theme, add a moat and a drawbridge.

Then you can write an app to control the drawbridge! And the app could be called "Drawbridge of Death" and you have the answer the question of "What's your favorite color?" correctly before it will lower the drawbridge :)

(The younger forum members are probably scratching their heads to that Monty Python reference, so here is a refresher...)

but Joanne said NO
I have a training guide and a program to cure that . . . a couple of bugs and it takes a while to execute but.

well, with all that workshop kit - i think that you have overcome the Joanne said NO part already.

I see another @Peter Simpson challenge coming along . . . maybe sometime I will post the images of my 12x6m workshop construction o_O . the kitchen and bathroom project and the 14 windows and doors to swap out in the house, then? there is the . . . . . .

And of course a couple of real dogs . . . . a sample ->

Great to see someone doing "honest" work with his hands.
