Apple launching the Duo is admitting that the fold market exists, thing that they refused for almost 10 years.
The ZFold8 is, for me, the first Fold I would consider, specifically for it's 4:3 ratio, allowing for a real "tablet like" usage when unfolded.
The Duo, as Apple usually does, takes the existing up a notch, taking advantage of the "lower" specs of Samsung an cashing up on the social movement Apple always seems to fire-up.
This said, phones continue to be a "status" item, and because of that, they are still being tagged over 50% to 70% over the real manufacturing costs.
the the most ironic thing is.... most Apple users don't even imagine the insides are made of mostly Samsung components for the main specs ones, like screen, memory, etc...
As for the size, the "passport" factor is, in my opinion, the winner factory, as it allows for a real "tablet" format unfold, still being confortable to use folded.
What most annoys me, is the so called unboxing videos calling out as negative point things software related like third party apps not rendering as well as proprietary ones.
So, yes, I, for the first time, am considering a fold, but even with the "massive" discounts Samsung is giving, I wont be paying 1200€ for a new phone that will be "socially obsolete" in 18 months
