Android Question AdMob standard vs Firebase AdMob

I seem to recall that Firebase Admob is just a "linking" of the regular Admob. You set up your Admob the normal way and when your ready to use Firebase services then just link it into Firebase. There is no problem using Admob without Firebase. At least that is my understanding. BTW, don't address any questions in the forum to a specific user

there's no need to link your app to firebase just to get the ads working.
it's just the new and easier method to get admob ads.

firebase gives more stats but after looking at it twice I didn't look at it again. so I don't have my latest apps linked to firebass.
