B4J Question B4J Classy Question

I'm not new to OO programming but I have not been able to get a class working in B4J 2.2.
I want to place an image and several labels onto a pane and be able to change text in the labels and rotate a pane. I can instantiate the object and get it to log parameters I send but the image and labels are all invisible and I can't access the properties of any of my controls. ugh.

Can anyone point me to a thorough tutorial?
