Best way to blank screen

I want to be able to blank the screen but have a hidden button to reactivate it.

so the phone looks like it is off until i touch part of the screen.

what the best way to acheive. should i set all my labels etc to black or is there a better way ?

First solution i get is a panel, size of the screen, black and a black button with click event on it?!
