Which type of server? Assuming that the file is sent as raw bytes, the speed should be similar.

As using Asp.net with IIS Server.
HTTP Binary Post? 64bit Encoding? FTP method? or else?
On Mobile Which image compression is better? JPG or PNG
Which voice and video compression is better and compatibility? mp3 or else

If your server supports binary posts then it is better than base 64 encoding. FTP is similar to binary posts.
